Hello and welcome to my blog – thanks for stopping by.

I teach Law at New College Lanarkshire . I have spent virtually my entire adult life in the law. I graduated from university back in the early 1990’s and have spent the intervening 25 years or so practising and teaching in an area that I am extremely passionate about.

As as a youngster, apart from naturally wanting to be a spaceman (some people think I am), a footballer or a train driver, I was always fascinated about the law. I was intrigued as to how it worked – it seemed bizarrely complicated and therefore mysterious. I was impressed at the way you could read about someone who decided to learn about the law for themselves in pursuit of a personal issue, be it criminal, contractual, corporate, matrimonial or whatever.

I decided to apply for Law School and started my studies back in the late 1980’s. It’s not an easy shift – far from it but in the next few years what I learned would set me up for life and I now have the opportunity of seeing the next crop of budding lawyers coming through. People of my generation will resonate especially with this bit – these students weren’t even born when I embarked on my studies and, moreover, Β some weren’t even born when I completed them 😳 .

I hope to achieve many different goals with this blog. The factual, critical analysis of various articles of the day ( they will usually, but not exclusively, have a direct legal slant). The practical perspective of explaining some of my own teachings for students to digest in their own time, and, crucially, the humorous aspect of life ( and the law) in general, whether seen through the lens of the media, the lawyer or the teacher………..πŸ˜‚ . Believe me, the last is worth reading about. Sometimes, you just couldn’t make it up .

Personally, I don’t think that these types of sites work without feedback, so I welcome it at all times, whether complementary or otherwise.

Finally, this is MY blog with MY views and they are NOT to be taken, in any way, shape or form as being the views of anyone other than me and certainly nothing should be inferred as being the views or opinions of New College Lanarkshire

Enjoy and, again, thanks for stopping by…..
